Infoworld Napster sends a message to music industry: 'Your customers aren't happy' (Apr 30 2004 02:08 GMT) - ""The Recording Industry Association of America wants to educate consumers with the message, "Artists deserve to be compensated -- artists won't make music if they can't make money." I can only imagine the public service announcements with multimillionaire artists pleading for their right to a seventh Porsche in the driveway. There's no rationalization for piracy; it is what it is. However, rampant music piracy online indicates that the music industry's distribution and pricing model is out of... |

Online Journalism Review Which Words Is a War Photo Worth? Journalists Must Set the Standard (Apr 30 2004 02:08 GMT) - "We have long heard that a picture is worth a thousand words, but no one has ever figured out which words an image stands for in the news of war. Perhaps nowhere has this been as problematic as during the latest war in Iraq, when images of war have been traveling as fast and as furiously as at any earlier time in history. Unlike the words at their side, the images of the war in Iraq have drawn a sustained degree of public attention, as pundits, military and government officials, journalists an... |

EMERGENCY HELP-- SEO JOB DUTIES... (Apr 30 2004 02:06 GMT) - You know, Terrance, I think that we could do this together as a team here, and maybe come up with anice set of descriptions of what an SEO does. It really shouldn't be that difficult or time consuming. What do you think the duties of an SEO are, if you were to break them down into specific duties? |

Weather Report (Apr 30 2004 02:04 GMT) - We finally received some serious rain - it poured all night long and into mid morning. As a result, most of the snow in our yard is gone. Which is amazing - Peter thought we'd have snow in the front yard through May. But, I bet it will be gone by Monday. Which brings us to the Westchester Lagoon Ice Classic! |

New PowerBook Ordered (Apr 30 2004 02:04 GMT) - I always said that when I finished the book that I'd get myself a new notebook. Early on, I expected that'd mean a ThinkPad T40 or something similar but that all changed a little while ago. Thanks to an ADC hardware discount, I've finally ordered the new hardware. The order I placed via Apple Store is: PowerBook 1. |

DATE NIGHT 3 (Apr 30 2004 02:04 GMT) - My wife Chris and I had been having our DATE NIGHTS twice a month for several years. On these special nights we would put aside all other matters and indulge in playing kinky sex games. While originally she had come up with the idea as a means of keeping me happy, she had been really getting into them lately. The rest of our lives together was very happy. We loved each other dearly and were best friends as well as lovers. |

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. ordered its ABC affiliates to preempt tomorrow's broadcast of ``Nightline,'' which will air the names and photos of U.S. military personnel who have died in combat in Iraq, saying the move is politically motivated. |

Gone Fishin' (Apr 30 2004 02:00 GMT) - Sorry to disappear so abruptly, but the notion that vacations don't eliminate work, they just push it one side or the other, works in this trade as well. I spent Tuesday helping jury pitches for the upcoming Springboard 2004 show, then helped my wife pack frantically for an early morning flight. We are now on the East Coast for a driving vacation visiting family, old college friends, and sundry tourist sites. We're starting on Long Island, and working our way down to Northern Virginia by next weekend. Digicams and laptop are along, so there may be a bit of target-of-opportunity travel-blogging, but the biz and techie neurons are going to take a rest. |
