- NEW YORK, New York - The Sony Corporation of America has announced that it is launching a new product meant to rival ClearPlay and RCAs recent obscenity filter offering. Unlike TVGuardian and other closed-captioning-based filters, ClearPlay uses custom-built filters for each movie that edits both language and scenes, allowing sensitive viewers to watch their favorite movies without nudity, profanity, and the like. - The Recording Industry Association of America is back on the offensive, and has filed another round of lawsuits targeting file swappers. The group has filed another 477 suits, mostly targeted at students who are swapping files using university networks. The group said in a statement that it was filing the suits in part to remind people that file swapping activity is illegal. The lawsuits cover users in 14 US universities. |
