Kikko-PUNCH! Kikko-BANG! (Apr 30 2004 19:36 GMT) - The oddest bit of Friday flash that I've yet seen. It's apparently an ad for Kikkoman soy sauce... but it's the most bizarre ad I've ever seen. A caped superhero type guy with a whole fish for a head rides on a motorcycle, pours soy sauce on people, apparently drives a cute little kitten to suicide, then goes to bed with the condiment-based superhero world's answer to Sailor Moon. Deeply weird. |

what's goin' on? (Apr 30 2004 19:35 GMT) - this week has been kind of crazy. what doesn't help is that my allergies are going biznatch bezonkers and I seem to have somehow pinched a nerve in my left sholder (right up in the joint) so every time I move that arm in certain directions a sharp pain shoots through me (and since I am left handed I just keep on doing it).found out today that they are using all but one of my articles in the book and they're going ahead and buying that one anyway, 'cause they might use it in the future. check should arrive in about 2 weeks.I've been playing around with my newly purchased ReplayTV ($50 open box from BestBuy). |

Esperanto Audiorama (Apr 30 2004 19:35 GMT) - Since its creation over a century ago, Esperanto, the international language, has generated its own literature, poetry, drama, and of course, song lyrics adapted to a multitude of music trends from throughout the world. Styles range from medieval folklore all the way to experimental electronic manoeuvres. Every flavour of Rock, Pop and Folk Music as well as traditional European, Latin, Slavic and African rhythms, have successfully carried Dr Zamenhof's borderless language all around the globe. |

We Talkin DIIIRRRRRRRTY! (Apr 30 2004 19:35 GMT) - "... Ever the cool little sassafras, Virginia invoked a baby-oil smooth intonation while switching on her computer. She typed the words "foot fetish" and "shoes," and in seconds arrived upon a list of references that would make any cross-dressing shoe-lover swell: brand names and pictures of designer styles, descriptions, and links to stories about high heels (think Cinderella, only much, much naughtier), tales of men masturbating in women's footwear, of women staking holes in men's hearts with their spikes. |

Spearhead Tunes (Apr 30 2004 19:35 GMT) - In a rap world set predominately on a limited range of topics to cover, politically and socially charged hip-hop is a breath of pure, fresh air. For the past decade, Spearhead and Michael Franti have been the antiseptic to a plaque-filled gold-toothed hip-hop mouth, expelling righteous truths and music with extremely thoughtful, meticulous details. download five free mp3 tracks! |

300 Images From 1800 Sites (Apr 30 2004 19:35 GMT) - I started gathering little, iconesque web images for myself so that I could compare, contrast, and study the techniques used by other graphic artists on the web. My initial pool of images looked so interesting that I decided to continue methodically hunting and capturing the icons for a public display piece. The purpose of this document is not to copy the intellectual property of others, but rather as a jumping-off point for your own unique web graphic projects. |

Vrijmarkt (Apr 30 2004 19:34 GMT) - The 30th of april is a national holiday in the Netherlands. Besides being out eldest son's birthday it is queens day. Part of the fun is selling your junk without any need of a permit, vrijmarkt translates as free market. This year my family joined in and we had a good time. Being a modern guy I'll continue the fun here on the web. |

Gmail Charity Auction (Apr 30 2004 19:33 GMT) - As I said below, I find the whole idea of auctioning off (freely gotten) Gmail accounts for profit really crass. Which is why I'm giving one away for free (see below). But it occurred to me last night that auctioning off a Gmail account for charity might be a really good way to give back to the community and raise funds for the AIDS ride, while also providing a Gmail account to somebody who really wants it. So, I decided I'm going to auction off my last Gmail invitation to whomever is willing to make the largest (fully tax deductible) donation to my AIDS/Lifecycle effort. It will work somewhat like a silent auction, except via email rather than in writing. |

Compassion: One reason why Brit libraries spending so little on books? (Apr 30 2004 19:32 GMT) - Call it compassion, call it a protect-your-employees system, whatever you call it, this could be one reason why British libraries are spending so little on books--just nine percent or whatever. Imagine yourself in a library faced with budget cut after budget cut. Do you cut back on collection-building or fire your employees? Perhaps it's time for an efficient TeleRead approach where less money would go for concrete and steel and more would be available for books and people. |

Babies as Bunnies (Apr 30 2004 19:31 GMT) - About 70% of the people I work with have baby pics of either their own or their grandkids with bunny ears on. They are so frickin' cute! I used to think that the baby-cum-furry look was played, but as I get older I find it more and more drool inducing. I just want to eat them all up! With ranch dressing! |
