And Can I Get an Extra $25,000 for Cure Tickets? (May 17 2004 21:59 GMT) - Reader Clay Young points to this great instance of your tax dollars at work: In 2002, the Department of Education approved a $273,000 grant to Blue Springs, Missouri to study why kids there were "going Goth." According to the KSHB Action News account, town officials ended up spending "only" $132,000, but even then the money was misspent: What's more infuriating to some is that with all the money spent, Blue Springs still wasn't able to complete what it set out to do. The town hall meetings to educate people about Goth dangers didn't happen. |

Feedback Please on www.originalwebsites.com (May 17 2004 21:55 GMT) - I haven't got the horizontal scrolling, but that's because I'm on a huge resolution. When I resized the window however, the horizontal scrolling started before I got to what should be the edge of the page (I'm running IE 6). My personal opinion on your name - Originalwebsites.com isn't a very original name ;). |

Valenti Angry With Tarantino, Wants To Sue File Sharers (May 17 2004 21:54 GMT) - How about a celebrity boxing match between Quentin Tarantino and Jack Valenti? Last week Tarantino spoke at an "anti-piracy" conference and made the case that movie piracy isn't so bad in many cases. However, by not sticking to the script, Tarantino has apparently upset MPAA head Jack Valenti. It's a little unclear what was said, but from the article linked here, it sounds like Valenti was threatening Tarantino. He tells him that it's time to "get on-board" with the industry's anti-piracy efforts. |
