Shoutbox-Spam List Manager (May 18 2004 23:53 GMT) - For the past few months i like many other Shoutbox users have been getting spam shouts on our boxes. The most annoying thing being links ot porn sites being used as the poster's URL. Oscar of ofhills.com came up with a solution to reject shouts that have urls that are known to be that of shoutbox-spammers. It is really basic and works just like it's supposed but for requiring one to continuously open up the shoutbox. |

The hollow men. (May 18 2004 23:52 GMT) - Fester at Fester's Place beat me to this by a few hours, but he and I had the same "eating the seed corn" reaction to this news: Bush is purportedly drawing up plans to deploy the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment — the regiment permanently stationed at the National Training Center, and by all accounts deliverers of the most effective combat training that any army has ever received — to Iraq. Bush is hollowing out the United States Army. |

Live TV over cellular services to have 120 million users in 2010 (May 18 2004 23:46 GMT) - Advanced cellular data services, increased terminal capabilities, and the launch of digital terrestrial TV broadcasting in many countries, are just some of the drivers that have created a market for TV over cellular services. Live TV over cellular services are forecast to be employed by more than 120 million users worldwide by the end of 2010, equating to shipments of approximately 56 million handsets in 2010, according to IMS Research. Worldwide, TV services are forecast to have higher penetration rates into CDMA technologies than into GSM-based technologies. In addition, users with access to cdma2000 1xRTT technology are predicted to be the greatest single TV service user group worldwide. Asia is expected to see the greatest penetration of cellular TV services, followed by the Americas, Europe, and The Middle East & Africa. |

No Execution (May 18 2004 23:39 GMT) - People are talking about the latest and greatest 'security' feature in Windows that has to be backed by hardware... (Strange, shouldn't software be improved in software? I digress). It seems to be about simply telling the processor to not and never treat as executable what is written in certain regions of memory. That, of course, will only be supported by upcoming hardware. |

Yanks dump Osborne for Felix Getridaya (May 18 2004 23:22 GMT) - Well, that's what some fans called him, because as soon as you got him, you wanted to get rid of him. Felix Heredia would tell you his nickname is Big Cat (how original!) but the short relief man doesn't typically strike fear in the hearts of the opposition.Either way, it's not a blockbuster move, by any stretch. The Yankees cut struggling southpaw Donovan Osborne and they activated Heredia, who is what he is -- a lefty journeyman who still has a job in Major League Baseball largely because he's left-handed. |
