Get your history right [Mark Lucas] (Jun 06 2004 23:22 GMT) - The D-Day celebrations are in full swing - great tribute to many heroes. But can we please get some facts right - the US didn't join the second world war until after Germany had declared war on the US and Pearl Harbour was bombed, and the sacrifice of lives started in 1938, not as as stated today by a Texan in 1944. Simple but puts politics in perspective. Mark Lucas |

Celebrating Ten Years of BeOS (Jun 06 2004 23:21 GMT) - It was early 1994 when the first BeOS version left the Be, Inc. offices and headed toward Be's "partners" and "developers". Streaming Audio to Cellphones (Jun 06 2004 23:21 GMT) - Doc Searls got me thinking about radio (streaming audio) to handheld devices such as cellphones, and I spent some time last night discussing the opportunities with Steve Gillmor. I put together a little proof-of-concept demo. I've tested it on my Treo 600 (Sprint model) using Pocket Tunes. Sounds great, even through the speakerphone. If this works (or doesn't work) for you using other cellphones/PDAs and sreaming players, please let me know. |

No, Really, The Job of the Future (Jun 06 2004 23:21 GMT) - You probably thought I was kidding when I said that prostitute is the job of the future. But consider the possibilities for disintermediation... Of course, as any fan of the TV series Firefly can tell you, it well be "companion", not "prostitute". |

When a blog is not a blog (Jun 06 2004 23:20 GMT) - I'm happy to be a "schill" and "sput nirvana" (sic). I've had a long and successful career at Lotus. I owe it in large part to the 1-to-1 contact I have with the broad Lotus and IT community on a global basis. I am, justifiably, proud of how Lotus has "come back" from being written off for dead...numerous times. |
