- you make a good pooint geoff, a normal floppy has one hole, i saw photos of "hard sectored" floppies and floppies with many holes near the hub. formatting a floppy, is , in efect, a "low level format" it chomps thru and writes on every sector. a hard disk format is different, I tried with an ide drive stopping the format half-way thru. windows still booted! this may not be true with the older ( mfm/rll) drives. |
