Reagan on God and America: The Visible City will perish without Invisible City (Jun 07 2004 23:53 GMT) - August 23, 1984: "These past few weeks it seems that we've all been hearing a lot of talk about religion and its role in politics, religion and its place in the political life of the Nation. And I think it's appropriate today, at a prayer breakfast for 17,000 citizens in the State of Texas during a great political convention, that this issue be addressed." |

The Cruel Edges of the World (Jun 07 2004 23:53 GMT) - I usually try to avoid posting the new headline story from Christianity Today, but this one really struck me, "Last year Thomas Nelson made a splash with Revolve, a glossy version of "the complete New Testament" wrapped in a brightly colored clean-teen magazine, complete with cute models, dating columns, and makeup advice. Teenage girlswho told Nelson's researchers that "the Bible is freaky and we don't read it"finally had a Bible they could call their own. (Or half a Bible, anyway, since it's hard to call the New Testament "complete" without the 39 books that its own writers constantly quoted.) Those girls, or their parents, made Revolve a bestseller. Once again, through evangelicalism's trademark fusion of mission and marketing, the Word had become fresh. |

Bishop's Refusal to Sign Statement Bars Him From Conference (Jun 07 2004 23:53 GMT) - "The Episcopal bishop of Los Angeles was forbidden from delivering a welcoming speech at a regional meeting of conservative Episcopalians that opened Thursday in Long Beach because he refused to sign a statement declaring that belief in Jesus as savior was the only way to get to heaven. By requiring such a statement for conference attendance, leaders of the conservative American Anglican Council said they wanted the meeting to be a "safe place" for Episcopalians who dissented from the U.S. church's liberal stances on biblical interpretation and homosexuality." |

From this Reuter's article: "The 84-year-old pontiff, who has Parkinson's disease, delivered a homily at an open-air mass on Sunday, speaking in Switzerland's three main languages -- German, French and Italian -- with relatively little difficulty." |

Message: Re: Want to have fun with customer service? Do this! (Jun 07 2004 23:51 GMT) - BTW - you hold yourself to the contact, not the salesperson. Is there a gun to your head. Unless you are incapable of caring for yourself, you have capacity and fulfill all elements to sign a contract - YOURSELF. > What about when it doesn't work at all in an area, not just short > power/tower outages? That is what most people complain about. |

You know, I hate to tell you, Santas Claus really isn't real. "Justin Green" wrote in article : |

Tu pak rozšiřovali v následujících letech další panovníci a nebyla naštěstí zničena ani v době proletářské revoluce zásluhou Lenina, který tyto poklady ihned … |

God and Grub (Jun 07 2004 23:49 GMT) - This morning I read this article about the new fad of Christian diets. Interestingly enough, they are all fruit and veggie based. Which begs the question why have all the tasty animals been put on this planet. If God didn't want us to eat them, whey did He make them taste so yummy when battered, breaded, fried, baked, or grilled? That and was there not some simple straight forward in Paul's vision? |
