interesting interveiw? (Jun 08 2004 12:59 GMT) - ...for a new position this morning. a project to investigate the systematisation of file conversion from market standard layout programs to a tagged-text/xml format. a four month project with eventual extension of the contract. either way landing the job would get me out of the aproaching shithole of unemployment at least until the contract extends or if it doesn't a position at my present employer turns up after their reorganisation. it sounds like interesting (believe it or not) work and it's on the humanitarian side of the rat race which gives it something of a feel good twist. |

Sometimes, my boss is arrogant (Jun 08 2004 12:59 GMT) - I know we don't follow federal closures exactly, but come on. This is part of an email I got today: On June 6, President Bush signed an Executive Order which indicated that all executive departments, independent establishments, and other governmental agencies shall be closed on Friday, June 11, as a mark of respect for Ronald Reagan, the fortieth President of the United States. Comptroller General Dave Walker has decided that GAO offices in headquarters and the field will also be closed on this day. Remember who's making the decisions, guys, seems to be the gist of that email.... |

Hosting + shopping cart which is SE friendly + catalog (Jun 08 2004 12:58 GMT) - Pretty much any *nix web hosting company can provide you with a base version of osCommerce for about US$ 10 to $15 per month. What your looking for is a loaded version of osCommerce that has the header tags controller that improves search ranking Be sure to turn on Search engine friendly URLs (SEF). There are some other items you can also do to get ranking higher in most search engines. I say most search engine versions because most of the optimizations on this shopping cart software have been focused on google, msn and inktomi. Follow the link on my signature and open two browser windows so you can test the administration and catalog side and see if it will work for you. |

Message: Re: alternatives to roaming? (Jun 08 2004 12:58 GMT) - You fail to mention how often you travel and number of minutes used. Gotta have the total cost to decide. I just did California to NC via I-40 and Jacksonville to Los Angeles I-10. Verizon America's Choice and ATTWS TDMA National (not Digital One Rate) had a signal virtually all the time. No, not all the time. |
