Message: put baseball cards between bicycle spokes (Jun 08 2004 18:58 GMT) - A little house with three bedrooms and one car on the street, A mower that you had to push to make the grass look neat. In the kitchen on the wall we only had one phone, And no need for recording things, someone was always home. We only had a living room where we would congregate, Unless it was at mealtime in the kitchen where we ate. We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine, When meeting as a family those two rooms would work out fine. We only had one TV set, and channels maybe two, But always there was one of them with something worth the view. |

Bush Attacks Public Television (Jun 08 2004 18:58 GMT) - Public broadcasting has found itself in the crosshairs of a partisan firing squad. New and intensifying ideological pressures from the Bush Administration have forced the public broadcaster to add new programs and alter others, in an attempt to be "more balanced" in the view of the current leadership. At a time when Americans are finding it more and more difficult to get past the clutter and partisanship on commercial TV and radio to find truthful sources of information about their government, this ideological pressure may gag one of the few sources of independent, substantive news and commentary that Americans can count on. |

He Also Rejects Deficits, Corporate Crime ... (Jun 08 2004 18:57 GMT) - Big headline all over my newsreader today: "Ashcroft Says Bush Rejects Use of Torture" The only way, after all the different lawyers opinions and actual incidences of torture have come to light, that this can be true is: 1) Bush is totally out of the loop and someone else runs his government; or 2) Ashcroft is lying. Or, it could be both?... |

NetGear's Patch Just Changes Account, Doesn't Close Hole (Jun 08 2004 18:57 GMT) - NetGear patched a gaping security hole that used a backdoor username and password--by changing it to another, easily discovered username and password (in German): Heise Security reports that a recently reported security hole that affects NetGear systems among others has been patched in a way that doesn't increase security. The site suggests that this might be reason enough (at least in Germany?) to return the product for a refund. |
