Message: addicted to technology (Jun 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - We may panic if we miss a phone call; we invigorate our day with an email check; losing data can cause great anxiety... I'm currently conducting a design research experiment - I'm trying to become a technology addict through excessive use of internet, email,tv, phone use, etc. I appreciate that this may sound irrational and careless to some, however I'm interested in exploring at first hand the nature of dependence on Information and Communication Technologies. |

Base Jumping From Mars (Jun 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - *sigh* You know, Taz, Reg and I are all really glad we moved here to Mars to escape London's Traffic Congestion Charging, but just on some days the weather round here is just too boring for words. Its red. Constantly red. The Martian Newspaper (which we produce) has the following daily weather column: Todays's Weather: |

Quest for the Rest (Jun 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - Hey, it's the sun, and it makes me shine Hey, it's the sun, and it makes me shine Hey, it's the sun, and it makes me shine Two members of the Polyphonic Spree have been singing their little hearts out and praising the sun, but have now got seperated from the rest of the group. Help them get back to their band buddies by navigating perilous drops and dangerous sealife. Brilliant, but too short. Give us more. Some of us are stuck inside today! |

If you've got any sense... (Jun 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - You won't be reading this. You'll be outside in the sunshine, frolicing with the ladies (if you're that way inclined) or busy avoiding the unwanted attentions of the fellas if you're female (p.s. ladies, I'm free and single, and you're young and fit, call me). Its beautiful outside. |

The Burning Question (Jun 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - Everymorning and every evening, on my walk to and from walk, I am posed with the same burning issue from a sign outside a shop:"Cat Litter Too Heavy?"To be honest, its not something I've had to consider in my brief catless life thus far. But now it burns down heavily in my mind - what if cat litter IS too heavy? What the fuck can we do about it? |

Knight behind bars (Jun 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - Oh dear. David has been naughty. Upset at the cancellation of his Rap Album he went and had a few shandies, got caught for drink driving and then had to spend the night behind bars. Don't worry Dave, the next time you'll be behind bars will be a far more pleasant experience. We've booked you in to mix the Pimms at the annual FJ croquet tournament. |

Schrodinger's fridge (Jun 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - Quantum Theory is becoming the bain of our lives here at Funjunkie Towers. Wild, Reg and I spent a large part of the weekend discussing, contemplating and arguing about our findings in the latest bout of research that we've been doing into Schrodinger's favourite subject*. Our experiment is less dangerous for our feline subject, but covers a far more important question. Instead of using a metal box with cyanide, we use a fridge with a light inside. When the door is closed, the cat will be in a superposition of states, in that it will either be able to see or not, depending on whether the light is on or off. |

Where does it all start? [ruth allen] (Jun 08 2004 22:58 GMT) - Scotland has produced its fair share of self-help gurus, from great Victorians like Samuel Smiles and Andrew Carnegie onwards. Making a bid to take up the baton in the 21st century is John Stephen. His rags to riches story of former deep-sea fisherman to businessman with a multi-million pound turnover, forms the basis of his âcan doâ inspirational message to would-be entrepreneurs. âCatching them youngâ is Johnâs current concern, having taken the time to put some of his attitudes, skills and knowledge into a book. The result, âWhere Does It All Start? |

What Happened? (Jun 08 2004 22:58 GMT) - I feel the pain that you caused inside,I feel the hurt when I lay down at night,I feel so lost,I feel so empty,A thousand words left unsaid,A thousand questions left unasked,I went crazy,I went nuts,Everything went hazy,When you said all those buts,My pain is more than you could ever handle,My hurt is so deep it will never be cured,My thoughts come to a screeching halt,When you are near,When you are mentioned,When you are thought,Everyone tells me they know how I feel,But have they ever gone through,Everything that happend between us?No one has ever loved this much,No one has ever hurt this much,I still love you,But as each day goes by,I grow to hate,To resent,To ignore,Ignore all the comments that you still make,Ignore all the words of anger,That I've come to hate,Ignore all the thoughts of what might-have,And of what still could happen,Hate is what drove me to hang on longer,Hurt is what made me love,Pain is what now makes me fear,Fear of being loved,Fear of being let-down,Fear of letting go,Fear of being alone. This is what you've done to me,This is what you' |

Message: Cellular billing scam? (Jun 08 2004 22:57 GMT) - OK, I've had Verizon service on two cellular phones (shared minutes) for a little under two years (the contract expires next month) My previous bill, I had about 100 "delayed billable airtime" minutes on the bill. I probably should have questioned it, but at the time, I thought the extra forty bucks was worth less than my time to look into the matter, so I foolishly paid it. This current bill I have about 100 more "delayed billable airtime" minutes on the bill. There is no explanation for the charges other than that. $42 worth of non-itemized charges. |

Ammo tax lawmaker at it again (Jun 08 2004 22:56 GMT) - BEWARE, HUNTERS and target shooters. Assemblyman Mark Ridley-Thomas (D-Los Angeles) is back with another bill to infringe upon the rights of legal gun owners. You may recall that last year he had AB 992, which proposed a 10-cent tax per bullet on the sale of ammunition in California. This was soundly defeated. His new bill (AB 2858) would exempt people with a valid hunting license, but the fees would still apply to law-abiding target shooters who do not hunt. |
