Handcuffed Suspect Steals Car, Escapes (Jun 09 2004 16:58 GMT) - A man arrested and handcuffed during a traffic stop managed to steal an unmarked police car and take off, police said. An officer received minor injuries to his hand and ankle after trying to keep the suspect from driving off Tuesday night. The suspect, identified the suspect as David Smith, 27, of New Orleans, remained at large Wednesday. |

Hewlett Packard (Jun 09 2004 16:56 GMT) - I certainly agree that low memory (or unreleased memory) is the biggest single culprit on a Windows system. I've never been infected with any kind of spyware, but have certainly heard all the usual horror stories that abound. Beyond those two potential solutions, and especially on an HP computer, I would look to drivers. Your hardware drivers are the only software not from Microsoft that is allowed to run in Ring 0 (has access to everything) and HP is notorious for releasing drivers prematurely. They love to be on the cutting edge (remember, they were the first printer to tell the computer they were out of paper? |
