Re: Keep it cool... (Jun 09 2004 20:59 GMT) - I use the campground power for it, I don't camp where there is no power, water or bath house :) It only pulls ~5 amps so I guess you could use a light generator or heavy inverter. It is stored in the tear while traveling, A/C units are a lot lighter than they used to be, it may weigh 35 pounds. At $98.00 for one with remote it's hard to beat. |

Burden of proof (Jun 09 2004 20:58 GMT) - More thoughts on the supposed difference (or rather, lack thereof) between theists and atheists. If I were to write a number, either 0 or 1, on a piece of paper, and then burn it, and I said that I wrote the number 1 on the piece of paper. The theist would go ahead and believe it. The atheist would say no, it's 0, because the burden of proof is on me to show that I wrote the number 1. On the other hand, if I said that I did *not* write the number 1 on the piece of paper, the theist and atheist would both turn around and take the opposite view. |

Re: Ribbing question... (Jun 09 2004 20:58 GMT) - If your hatch truly has has a circular shape, like a Benroy, your best bet would be using a radius guide for your router, and just spin arcs for whatever size you need. Any good sized bookstore probably has a dozen router guidebooks showing how to build one. If you have an elliptical shape, it would probably be best to draw both sized ellipses onto quarter-inch MDF, template them, then copy with a guide bushing on the router. That's the pencil, string and two nail method. Andrew Gibbons has instructions for this on his site. |

Message: Re: Cellular billing scam? (Jun 09 2004 20:58 GMT) - Years ago, I was the regional service manager for one of the major carriers that now make up VZW. Part of my job was to teach people how to deal with difficult situations and customers. I also took escalations myself when needed for particularly touchy situations. I taught them to listen and let the customer initially just vent to blow off steam. Then, based on the information given and available via the system(s), offer them the best solution possible or a menu of choices, if available. |

Has PC Gamer lost its edge? (Jun 09 2004 20:58 GMT) - Last post by AlexR on 12:33 08/Jun/04 - Now, i've noticed a change in the style of writing over the years from the various journalists at PC Gamer. All very good at their jobs but I remember a time when shit games got the drubbing they deserve. |

Scientists see new species born. ... (Jun 09 2004 20:57 GMT) - Scientists see new species born. Scientists studying flies that live off rotting cacti may have seen the birth of a new species. [BBC News | News Front Page | UK Edition] Common sense view: I recently read several reports where scientists said we are losing "thousands of species" every year. I've tried hard - many times - to find the sources of that "thousands of species" without success. |
