Teen Scammer Finally Tossed In Jail (Jun 15 2004 01:56 GMT) - Back in 2002, the SEC charged a teenager who had scammed people out of approximately a million dollars by promising them that he would return 2,500% on their investment at an online casino. Honestly, the most impressive part is that people believed him enough to give him that much money. The kid is obviously persuasive. So persuasive, in fact, that the SEC let him off with a slap on the wrist after he returned the money and promised to stay on the right side of the law. That didn't last long. |

Point of Order (Jun 15 2004 01:52 GMT) - I so wish I was a better writer (more on that another time). Alice in Texas adds this to the cosmos: Conservatism and the growth of the canon First, I want to draw a distinction between conservatism and conservationism. In my view, conservatism is not about conserving things. It is about taking a conservative approach to the world, which involves careful, tentative consideration of growing entities, such as the literary canon, history, and political... |
