Commentary on some commentary (Jun 15 2004 23:55 GMT) - Last post by tim_e on 00:16 16/Jun/04 - So now we know why Mr. Wolstenholme's commentary on England's 4th goal from you-know when, was singled out and has been raised to such ridiculous heights in the public psyche: |

CallVantage Lowers Rates (Jun 15 2004 23:55 GMT) - Competition thick in fledgling VoIP industry. Some of the strikes against AT&T's VoIP service - according to our users - was a fairly pedestrian feature-set, the inability to operate your TA behind your router, a hefty early termination fee, and a price-tag $5 more a month than Vonage. As the c.. |

England? (Jun 15 2004 23:53 GMT) - Ahh, the female perspective!!!! Quote: "Don't think we can beat the Aussies still, the Windies are under strength these days so winning out there can't suggest anything about playing Australia." While ever Gilchrist is keeping wicket, Australia will be nigh on impossible to beat, except maybe on teh subcontinent. No team, ever, has had a match winning batsmen, with an average over 50 in test cricketand a penchant for really big scores, bat @ number 7 and keep wicket. |

Edinchip Chambered Cairn (Fieldnotes by greywether) (Jun 15 2004 23:52 GMT) - Having read the previous note, I had expected something of a challenge for the last site of the day. In the end, it was a dawdle - but I was probably lucky. There is now one of these new cycle path things running through the area (shown on new Landrangers but not on Streetmap) which may help access a little. It doesn't follow the railway line to the site but it does connect up (further SW) with the old military road which also runs past the site. I went for the railway embankment option having first ... |

Victoria Trip: Day #1 (Jun 15 2004 23:51 GMT) - Today was my first day in Victoria, and what a day it was! First of all, very early morning, but that's okay as it gave me a chance to cram more into the day. The weather here is awesome compared to Edmonton - nice and sunny, no rain! After arriving in Victoria, Jennifer, Martin and I went to the Butchard Gardens. The garderns were simply amazing. |

AIM/ICQ SDK for Macromedia Central (Jun 15 2004 23:50 GMT) - As I have been working on the AIM project here at Macromedia, more and more I am realizing the power of this 'movement'. There is no doubt in my mind that the AIM/ICQ SDK for Central is a big step in the right direction by giving developers access to one of the oldest, largest, and most ingrained social networks today. If you are wondering what social software is, Stowe Boyd published a great article in Darwin Magazine (online version here) which will give you a brief introduction. I will also be posting more about social software in the future and hopefully get you geared up for the release of the AIM SDK.... [DanielDura. |

The Torture Memo - Take 2 (Jun 15 2004 23:50 GMT) - Glenn Reynolds has a post about the "torture memo" and it's meaning (which I discussed here as well). I sent an email to him, but since his volume is too high for there to be much likelihood of it getting out otherwise, here is the email: You note: I find it hard to respond to these things in terms of cost-benefit. My law school mentor Charles Black once said that of course you can come up with scenarios -- the classic ticking-nuclear-bomb example -- where torture might be justified. |
