Innovation (Jun 17 2004 00:59 GMT) - I was thinking about how pervasive computers are in my life. I started writing code on a TI994A back around 1982-83 and have had access to one almost continuously since. Now I have no less than 5 at home. I used to watch the evening news, but gradually the net provided more news, more inline with when I wanted it. I used to own a dictionary (well I still do) but now when I want to spell something I’m more likely to Google it and see if Google returns me the correct spelling if that fails there is always Websters. |

6/16/04 (Jun 17 2004 00:58 GMT) - Take over the car next to you, with iTrip amp. Although, I'd imagine that car next to you will have to be on your iTrips' selected radio station. ipods, so impractical... With these plugins, I knew there was a reason I've been using panthers' most of the time sluggish & clunky, address book & iCal since day one... And that led to the vonage VOIP telephone service app, enabling you to dial numbers from your desktop, just like bluetooth. |

Why newspapers should be more like blogs (Jun 17 2004 00:57 GMT) - This sounds like a manifesto for UrbanVancouver. I can tell you that in Vancouver because the local broadsheet newspapers have bad websites with only a portion of their articles online and links that rot quickly, the web diet of the average under 40 Vancouverite doesn't include the local broadsheets, Vancouver Sun, Vancouver Province, etc. [ I would link to their sites if they actually had sites worth linking to!]. Would you turn down a ... (Jun 17 2004 00:56 GMT) - Would you turn down a lot of money?. 37signals recently turned down a big job because the client wouldnt agree that ownership depended on payment (details in the link). Saying no, even when it means losing revenues, is much, much better than having a difficult client. Good thoughts for everyone who does contract work. |

Rainbow Bridge (Jun 17 2004 00:55 GMT) - Start to finish, spring 2004 was wrought with anger, sadness, and general discontent for most of this season. People died, some suddenly, financial difficulty, mental anguish within relationship, I dunno. Sure there were up points, but overall, I do not want to say this was a favorably memorable spring. |
