School Crime Is Down, But The Charts Are Big (Jun 30 2004 21:58 GMT) - The Mayor, Schools Chancellor, and Police Commissioner announced that their effort to reduce crime at certain plagued NYC schools has been successful. Gothamist is glad, and we hope that this is part of a larger, continuing effort to also (1) make sure schools have the supplies they need and (2) make sure teachers are retained, including ones recruited in the Fellowship program (we know a few who have been beaten up by the program). Another headline for this post could be "Mayor Asks NYPD to Guard Precious Foamcore Blow-ups Of Charts." |

[JavaOne] What's new and cool in the J2ME Wireless ToolKit (Jun 30 2004 21:57 GMT) - I'm continuing my theme to only attend sessions I know little about. I'm sitting in a session on the J2ME Wireless ToolKit. So far it's fairly boring. This guy's been rambling on for a while about all the JSRs that the toolkit implements. Now he's doing a demo and using the Network Monitor to demonstrate looking at the HTTP requests when making soap calls. |

Lives on random shuffle (Jun 30 2004 21:56 GMT) - "I didn't upgrade to the latest cheats, and I was banned." He was waiting at St. George Station, carrying a canvas and a hiker's backpack, so he's probably a university arts student. He got banned from playing the online game Counter-strike. Test Post from BlogJet (Jun 30 2004 21:56 GMT) - So on ScottWater's recommendation, I'm giving BlogJet a try and the only thing I can't do is "Post as Draft" and then later edit and publish. Other than that, this is a nice little app. I may keep it. UPDATE: I can't do any edits and republish. |
