Mr. Zilch's Chevy, as big ... (Jul 18 2004 23:59 GMT) - Mr. Zilch's Chevy, as big as a whale: Part 1 My daughter moved four hundred fifty miles away to college last fall. She would have moved three thousand miles away but California state schools only reside in California. reciprocal links (Jul 18 2004 23:58 GMT) - There's a difference between a directory link and a link from a "links page" on a site. Probably a bit less important than the others I'll mention, but a factor nonetheless in many cases, is that your directory link is balanced with at about a a 3:1 ratio of "anchor text" and "near the anchor" descriptive text. Some links pages have descriptive text, too, so this always isn't the case, but in many cases, a links page is little more than a list of links. The key difference between a good directory listing and a listing on a reciprocal links page is "context". |

*Create a Simple Gnome-Panel Applet, Win an OSNews Subscription* (Jul 18 2004 23:57 GMT) - [OSNews] - The way I normally use my Gnome(s) on PCs with lower resolution monitors is by having a single panel at the bottom of the screen, 32pix height. It seems like a good compromise for old PCs with monitors that can't do more than 800x600 or 1024x768. Stacking applets together though can be an exercise to the eye to try to quickly seperate them visually.... |
