Microsoft Buys Lookout. One of ... (Jul 20 2004 23:59 GMT) - Microsoft Buys Lookout. One of the biggest weaknesses of Microsoft Outlook has been the search feature. It takes so long for Outlook to search that the feature is almost useless. Searching is not a hard problem, and a lot of plug-ins sprang up to solve this problem. Lookout was one of the best. |

Div tags question (Jul 20 2004 23:58 GMT) - Hi all I was asked a question that I don't know the answer to. Any advice ....? They are working on the footers of a site and will be putting the roll-over copy into hidden divs. Will hidden divs containing the intended searchable content be "picked up" by text-based engine searches? Are search engines "smart" enough to explore the hidden divs? |

Dreamin (Jul 20 2004 23:58 GMT) - I dreamed of you again last night in a dream that was so real.I talked with you and laughed with you and told you how I did feelWe stood alone under the moon held in a loving embrace.I was mesmerized and hypnotized by your beautiful face.I looked into those eyes of blue and baby, what did I see? Those beautiful eyes, that wonderful smile, staring back at me. |

Interesting Outlook 2003 Display Bug (Jul 20 2004 23:57 GMT) - I ran across an interesting display bug in all of the left panel views when I was fiddling with 120DPI. After I gave up on 120DPI and set everything back, I decided to change fonts to make things look a little better. So, I changed the Menu font to Tahop 9pt. As we all know, the Menu font is also what Outlook uses to show it's expandable views in the left-hand pane. Interestingly enough, when I first bring up Outlook 2003, the fonts render what looks to be Tahoma 10pt, and then after it completely comes up, the fonts shrink. |

eTree Boycotting Aladdin Hotels (Jul 20 2004 23:56 GMT) - Joe Fitzpatrick is the President of eTree, a software company in Los Angelos that develops solutions for hardware manufacturers. eTree is sending a portion of their staff to the LDI Show in Los Vegas in October, and their office manager had been working with the Aladdin Casino and Resort to book rooms for their people. However, since Aladdin decided to kick singer Linda Ronstadt off the property for saying she liked Michael Moore, Mr. Fitzpatrick has determined that the Aladdin is not an eTree kind of place and will no longer pursue a business relationship with the hotel. His reasons are sound, focusing on the safety of his employees in a hotel that has publicly established a hostility to non-GOP political views and the ability of the Aladdin to provide security if it cannot even keep a Linda Ronstadt concert from turning into what the President of the hotel called "bedlam. |

That's three forward, nine down (Jul 20 2004 23:56 GMT) - Apollo 11 materials at Nasa include an annotated transcript of the landing and the LM's flight paths. The actual first steps are documented in a similar transcript, peppered liberally with video, audio, and photo links. Elsewhere, we find evidence of a Soviet attempt to reach the moon with cosmonauts, and my obligatory cardmodel links to the LEM and Delta 7's in-progress Apollo project. IMAX is producing a film, with some sort of assistance from Tom Hanks, that will take archival lunar surface footage, enlarge and de-grain it, and be offered up in 3-D. Finally, it's always important to note those who voyaged to Luna before Armstrong and company, such as the justly-celebrated Cyrano de Bergerac. |

your affect on me (Jul 20 2004 23:55 GMT) - Blinded by your lightThe venom I had yet to touchI had not felt the bite Though I should have expected as muchDancing in a slow motion fightI can no longer hear the wordsAs your face haunts with all its mightIn my darkened place Which hold my hopes and dreamsI shatter the mirror to carve a new faceWhy go to such extremes?Because I love you I feel as if I canÂ’t breatheIÂ’m sacred of what you may doMust I constantly seethe? But I must because I am what you seeA lost soul in this psychotic placeThis world has got the best of meThis world in which we all must faceYouÂ’re always there holding my handGuiding me, showing me the wayThe second you let go IÂ’m holding by a strandHow can you leave giving me no say? |

How Much Would You Pay For a Cup of Coffee? (Jul 20 2004 23:54 GMT) - You're confusing what I'm saying, DC. What you attach your brand to needs to be short and visual - you shouldn't have to read it. The golden arches are not McDonald's brand, the swish is not Nike's brand, they are the image that represents the brand. As we've said, your brand itself - the impression that people have of your company and/or products is rich and multilayered. But, if you don't have something for people to attach that rich, multi-layered message and set of impressions to, then it gets lost. |
