64-Bit Tablet? Not yet. (Jul 30 2004 00:49 GMT) - Last week David at Sage commented about time frame of 64-bit computing on Tablet PCs. Many others have had this same question. Today, Microsoft's Robert Williams replies, "Don't hold your breath. It's a big leap to connect the fact that the unit is powered by an AMD processor to the conclusion that a 64bit version is soon to follow. 64bit tablets will happen but it's not the near term direction. |

NEC Versa LitePad Still Going Strong (Jul 30 2004 00:49 GMT) - In the last month or two I've heard a few people make subtle references to NEC practically fading into distant memories of Tablet PC enthusiasts. Perhaps some people are discounting the ultra-slim model that was released just over a year ago, but people looking for an inexpensive introduction to Tablet PCs aren't passing up the ultra-low sticker price. The NEC Versa LitePad Tablet PC hasn't changed since it was released last March. It still has the Intel Pentium III 933MHz Ultra Low Voltage processor, which is now considered archaic, 20GB hard drive, and, yes, only 256MB of memory. The 1 1/2 hour battery life has been shown-up by 3, 4, 5-hour, and longer lasting batteries. |
