Babylon5 Making a Return? (Oct 24 2004 01:56 GMT) - "For the first time in five years, there is an office somewhere in England with the words Babylon 5 on the door." While none of this is confirmed, code-named TMOS (The Memory of Shadows?) most likely seems to be a series of movies about the telepath war and leftover shadow technology. via Carlsbad Cubes but no source mentioned. One can only hope if all is true that the quality is more akin to the original series and not the movies of late. |

Which President will Kill more? ... (Oct 24 2004 01:48 GMT) - Which President will Kill more? I think it would be interesting to find out if there has ever been an election in American history where the leading candidates for the office openly declare how willing they are to kill. Enjoy Senator Kerry's comments quoted on NPR yesterday where he vowed to stand up to countries like Syria, Iran and North Korea (code for pre-emtive war there I think) and where he plans to build the US special forces into "the most deadly force" on the planent. |

The implication of the Linda Loaiza case to Venezuelan Society (Oct 24 2004 01:39 GMT) - This is not about politics. This is a story about a judicial system and a society so rotten and so putrid that something like the Linda Loaiza case can occur. It is impunity within impunity. A decision so absurd and corrupt that even those that preside over a system that promotes impunity are flabbergasted by it. It is victory of money over fairness, money over human decency, money over a monstrosity, in short, money over the most basic moral and ethical principles of a human being. |

Change ambiguities to specifics (Oct 24 2004 01:38 GMT) - I'm in a funny mood. I've just spent the best part of six hours at waistcoatmark's party, and a good party it was too, but I am depressed. I'm not really in a bad way needing medication depressed - just a numb, wait till things blow over sort of depressed. The problem started when I whinged at vicarage about recent life changing events, including the fact that most people find pmcmurray too much to handle over just one bank holiday weekend, let alone for several weeks. Brain drain anger in Germany (Oct 24 2004 01:35 GMT) - Over the past year, Germany's scientific institutions have said repeatedly that brain drain is not a problem for the country. But German scientists who have left the country to find jobs abroad say these pronouncements reflect anything but the truth of the situation. Markus J. Buehler, a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology, said he left Germany for what he feels is a better system for young scientists. In the German system, even after a scientist receives his doctorate, he or she basically remains in the shadow of a professor for the next 10 years, he said. |
