The Importance of Verifying Identity (Oct 26 2004 23:31 GMT) - Two incidents in the last couple of days has prompted me to make a some comments on the importance of verifying identity. In my network security class we teach students about the importance of verifying packages. We spend 2 weeks on it at the beginning of the course, then reinforce the point later with an exercise. Why? Because of the recent PostNuke incident. |

Knitty releases Creative Commons licensed issue (Oct 26 2004 23:30 GMT) - [Creative Commons: weblog] - In case you hadn't heard, knitting's all the rage and has been for crafty hipsters for years (last xmas I got my first knitted scarf as a gift). One of the best sources for information and patterns is Knitty. For the past two years, they have put out quarterly issues that feature about a dozen project how-tos, stories, and articles about knitting. For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they put out a special print (PDF) issue that featured projects specifically tailored to those living with cancer and a story from a survivor. |
