Blogroll macro no longer reads OPML files - why? (Oct 28 2004 03:59 GMT) - As mentioned in a previous post, I deleted my cloudspace contents and republished my entire site. Unfortunately, this had an inexplicable side-effect that the Radio macro that renders OPML files as blogrolls no longer works - instead I get the message "Macro error: Could not open the url, "http://blogs. salon. |

They finally did it (Oct 28 2004 03:55 GMT) - The Red Sox finally did it - they won a World Series. They looked dead after the first three games of the ALCS - then their pitchers came to life, and the Yankees bats went silent. After they took New York apart, I don't think there was any stopping them - they had that crucial confidence that they had lacked for a long, long time. In fact, I suspect that this would have been a much tougher series for them if they hadn't gone through New York first. By slaying that demon, they were filled with confidence and played up to their abilities. |

They used to have some type of problem maybe once a week. I've seen some problems recently with long periods of time needed to republish the whole blog. But it's mostly been OK. |

Why won't Radio delete monthly archives? (Oct 28 2004 03:53 GMT) - To reduce the amount of cloudspace my blog occupies, I turned off monthly archiving by unchecking that preference and submitting the change. I then ran wipeCloud and republished the entire site. However, the monthly archives did not disappear. I looked in Radio.root and found in user. |

Electronic Voting (Oct 28 2004 03:53 GMT) - Myles writes to point to this amusing video (from a site hosted in the Netherlands) about a Floridian voter trying to select John Kerry. While this is obviously in jest, electronic voting is becoming a tremendous threat to democracy. Everything I've read about the subject tells a sorry tale of broken machines, lousy security and little accountability. These two sites (both, predictably, designed in red, white and blue) provide a decent overview of what's wrong with electronic voting. I'm optimistic that these issues, along with the size of Canada's population, will prevent our government from seriously considering a move to electronic voting. |
