We're in Charge, But It's Their Fault! (Oct 28 2004 15:58 GMT) - The post below has Rudy Giuliani trying to blame the troops for the failure to secure bomb-making materials in Iraq, and now it appears the Republicans are trying to blame Democrats for the flu-shot disaster this year. After controlling Congress for the better part of a decade, and having the White house for three years and nine months, the Republicans refuse to take responsibility for anything that has gone wrong. Anything. Since they obviously don't have the power to influence anything when they have all the power, maybe it is time to try another team.... |

Another Out Of Order Ballot (Oct 28 2004 15:58 GMT) - Here's another out of order butterfly ballot from Montgomery County, Ohio, courtesy of Jesse from Pandagon. It's his grandmother's ballot, and I implicitly trust that this is actually what he says it is: screwed up. When I asked people to look at this absentee ballot from Cleveland earlier this week it was suggested in the comments that there was some Photoshop action making the numbers appear out of order. Here is that ballot, complete with the punchout section next to it: |

Video Vote Vigil (Oct 28 2004 15:57 GMT) - David Pescovitz:... BB pal Jon Lebkowsky says: "Working with Texans for Truth and Mercury Campaigns, we're putting together a web site to gather videos and images of any disturbances and irregularities that might occur at polling places on election day. We launched yesterday with a QuickTime video of George Bush shooting the finger (though some just linked to the video). We aren't quite set up to accept content yet, but volunteers who are willing to take their cameras to the polls can sig... |

Retinal display on display (Oct 28 2004 15:57 GMT) - David Pescovitz:... My latest article for TheFeature is about Washington University professor Thomas Furness's Virtual Retinal Display, a system that paints a video image onto your eyeball with a laser beam. "The small screens and narrow fields of view of mobile devices don't work well with the human vision system," Furness says. "When we first started talking about VRD, the idea was to create a system that requires very little power but can be connected to a PDA or cell phone t... |

Delkin 24k Gold CD-R (Oct 28 2004 15:57 GMT) - For those who want to put some real class in their life, but are already weighed down by gold medallions and knuckle-spanning rings emblazoned with diamonds spelling out ROOT, Delkin has arrived on the scene with CD-R media containing some $0.20 worth of 24k gold per disc. Gold may not seem like a very sensible ingredient of optical media at first—there are highly reflective materials that don't cost some $400 per ounce—but Delkin claims their "Archival Gold" discs ... |
