Marshall Field V, chairman and president of the Terra Foundation for the Arts, acknowledged that public indifference had made the trustees' decision last year an easier one. The sprawling, encyclopedic Art Institute attracts more than 1.3 million visitors each year. By comparison, the Terra Museum, located within a mile of the Art Institute, draws only about 85,000. |

- A librarian who came out of retirement to replace a sick librarian in Lumpkin, GA, said that she can no longer continue in the position after being threatened by young men with brass knuckles and knives. As a result, the library, a member of the Chattahoochee Valley Regional Library System, has decided to keep its doors closed until a permanent, full-time replacement can be hired. "I understand the action that she says she had to take," (police chief Jay) Stripling said, "but that library is as safe as anywhere else in town. So I really wish they didn't close it. There are a lot of kids in this town that want to do right, but it's the other 2 percent who are causing all the problems. |

- Ok, I either found a really old AMAZINGLY expensive computer, or a more recent really cheap one! It's a Headstart LX-CD. 40mb Miniscribe hard drive, Siemens 8088 processor, and, oh yah, a CD-ROM! It's attached to a full-length 8bit ISA card with RCA outputs and a potentiometer for volume! So, is it old or more recent? |

- Il est bientt une heure. Je viens de rentrer chez moi, quelques mtres pied travers le brouillard, qui recouvre les champs environnants ce soir. Pourtant le ciel est clair, la Lune est haute dans le ciel et de nombreuses toiles se sont peu peu allumes l-haut. J'coute les Stereophonics, j'ai un peu froid, et je me sens vide surtout, si vide. Soire banale avec de vieux amis, sale voiture branlante qui se trane on ne sait comment jusqu' la plage, pizza sur les galets, alors que la Lune orange semble sortir des flots, et l notre salle familire, un peu enfume, et son billard. |

- They are not bright at all. They are using ressources they either downloaded from the net or paid for. And obviously they are doing business on everybody else's expense. Things got worse over the last few days. I had to clean up the event log every day because I could no longer display it since it grew too fast. |
