If I don't vote, I can avoid walking to the Lutheran church a few blocks away at 6 pm, in the dark and cold, to stand in line with people whose vote won't really matter anyway. If I don't vote, I won't have to watch the poll watchers from the opposite political party sneer at me when the election official announces my name and party registration. If I don't vote, I won't have to concern myself with my vote falling into a fetid sump created by an Electoral College system, where my vote and all those cast for the same candidate as me, means nothing. |
