My Daughter Tricia Grows Up (Oct 31 2004 04:11 GMT) - My daughter Tricia is a Keiki o'ka Aina. Our Hawai'ian friends know that means a Child of the Land, born in Hawai'i. She doesn't remember much now, because we left when she was 3, lured by the magic of Hollywood. She was 22 months old when I took this in Kap'iolani Park in Honolulu. After a while, we moved to Detroit to be with my wife's family. |

Talkin about a revolution (Oct 31 2004 04:11 GMT) - One day the poor people are going to rise upAnd stake all that is theresYes finally the tables will turnWithout one reason To outlive the concept of greed Talkin about a revolutionConfer your reasonsConstrict our life LibertiesBeliefs And we become Too old Still to believe in lepracons AndThat some can be entitled to royal-blood We were-never to think of ourselves as independent Ultimately we are all governed by natures principals Perfection does not come easilyForgive-me is all that we cannot say We are like scared-dogsCowering without wordsKnowing That we have done something wrong Petitioning from a distanceTrying to find a new-way To fill that empty-space in our heartsExistence waits for us Too learn to say sorry |

Pumpkin (Oct 31 2004 04:08 GMT) - Tonight was pumpkin soup, apple pie, beer and pumpkin carving at the house of an acquaintance of mine. I actually used to race him now and then in high school, but he was notably faster than I was. After a few years out in the midwest, he transferred to UMass, and his brother is now the coach at the College, so he’s been in Amherst ever since. His girlfriend is new in town, and I suspect the motivation here was to help her feel a bit more at home; |

First slow day in a long time (Oct 31 2004 04:07 GMT) - Finally got to sleep in, before a late lunch w/ Duane at Bilbo's. treasonous (Oct 31 2004 04:05 GMT) - As for every veteran, the truth will be found in form DD214, the official Department of Defense document of release from military obligation given to Kerry when he exited military service on July 1, 1972. It is conspicuously absent from the documents released so far. Everyone serving in the military receives a DD214... - lgf: pump up the bass, Qusay |

More on the Dangers of eVoting (Oct 31 2004 04:01 GMT) - blamanj writes "A lot of discussion has been focused on the lack of security in electronic voting systems. What hasn't been as widely discussed, is just how tiny the voting manipulations have to be to have an effect. In this months CACM (cite, pdf of original paper is here), some Yale students show that altering only a single vote per machine would have changed the electoral college outcome of the 2000 election. Changing only two votes/machine would have flipped the results for four states." |
