Voting for Voting (Oct 31 2004 20:01 GMT) - One of the best reasons to vote this in this election is that, if you don't, it may very well be the last time your vote is counted at all. |

So how long can you go ? (Oct 31 2004 20:00 GMT) - Almost every machine that I have runs or has run ( and therefore is installed ) an infomation service / webserver. Apache usually - one machine runs Tux, thats the machine I usually use to show non Linux people how to kick up a storm. Well, midday today, the one machine where I had decided there will be no server process - lost its battle after almost 11 months of resisting. My primary laptop is now running a cvs snapshot of Apache2. -- Karanbir Singh { http: |

Election endorsements (Oct 31 2004 20:00 GMT) - My ex-colleague Jacob Kaplan-Moss has put together a fantastic site listing the presidential endorsements published by American newspapers in the run up to the election. I was looking for something like this just the other day so it was great to find the answer so close to home. I was depressed but not at all surprised to see my former employer endorse Bush, but it's interesting to see that of the four Kansan papers listed two endorsed Kerry, despite that state's huge Republican majority. |

Why?... part 2 (Oct 31 2004 20:00 GMT) - Okay, so why do children wait for the really quiet part of a baptismal ceremony to say in a very loud stage whisper "who is the man in the big white dress?" Can you tell we're not regular church goers?! |

Linux Can't Compare to Windows (Oct 31 2004 20:00 GMT) - "No vendor today stands behind Linux with full IP indemnification. In fact, it is rare for open source software to provide customers with any indemnification at all," Ballmer says in the message. He notes that Microsoft has lifted that protection cap for the company's volume licensing customers. "We provide uncapped protection for legal costs associated with a patent, copyright, trademark or trade-secret claim alleging infringement by a Microsoft product," he adds. |
