Sun, 31 Oct 2004 21:38:48 GMT (Oct 31 2004 21:38 GMT) - The most misunderstood issue in this election cycle is surely that of stem-cells. I'm no expert on the subject but I have yet to meet a single other person -- and the people I meet tend to be university graduates -- who even grasps the basics of the issue: embryonic vs adult, new cell lines vs existing, federal funding vs ban, what's been done so far etc. Basics. Most people seem to have this notion of 'Bush is against stem-cells because he is a religious nut, and I'm for them. |

Okay, So I Lied. (Oct 31 2004 21:35 GMT) - I promised I'd skip a NASCAR post, in exchange for that godawful long work post--well, it ain't gonna happen this week. Today was the first race since last week's Hendrick Motorsports plane crash. For you non-NASCAR types, Hendrick is a dominant team--they own the cars of Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, two of the main contenders for the Nextel Cup this year. Last Sunday, a plane with ten |

Election endorsements (Oct 31 2004 21:35 GMT) - [Simon Willison's Weblog] - My ex-colleague Jacob Kaplan-Moss has put together a fantastic site listing the presidential endorsements published by American newspapers in the run up to the election. I was looking for something like this just the other day so it was great to find the answer so close to home. I was depressed but not at all surprised to see my former employer endorse Bush, but it's interesting to see that of the four Kansan papers listed two endorsed Kerry, despite that state's huge Republican majority. |

www.locationfrance.co.uk Your opinions ladies and gentlemen? (Oct 31 2004 21:34 GMT) - Hi Britman, thanks for the kind review :D I did try black as the text format, but I found it a little overbearing. It detracted from the design of the site (in my opinion) however you are not the first person to suggest this  so I may have to bow to the weight of opinion : |

Wayland's Smithy (Fieldnotes by texlahoma) (Oct 31 2004 21:34 GMT) - a beautiful autumn day was spent yesterday at waylands smithy. the orange leaves falling all around on a gentle breeze, in this most tranquil spot. people came and went as we sat there and moved around taking our photographs, a popular place for those on foot or bikes and passed every now and then by huge off road vehicals powering down the ridgeway. still this didn't bother me as i sat inside each of the chambers totally switching myself off from the world outside. this place is an absolute treasure. |
