Divested Interests (Dec 02 2004 14:59 GMT) - A YudelLine post on Shoshana Cardin inspired my column in this week's NJ Jewish News. Also check out an oped by Rabbi Daniel Brenner, director of the Center for Multifaith Education at Auburn Theological Seminary, the Presbyterian seminary in Manhattan: "As the only rabbi in America who works full time in a Presbyterian seminary, my life has been complicated, as my friends can attest, by the decision of the Presbyterian Church (USA) to divest from companies that do business with... |

I Like 1&1 (Dec 02 2004 14:59 GMT) - For the past year and a half I've used TulsaConnect as my colocation place here in Tulsa. But now I am in need of more bandwidth and processing power (apparently I'm their #3 bandwidth user, and I'm doing it 1/5th the rackmount space of the top 2.)TulsaConnect's #1 bandwidth user ... |

OregonLive.com: Library vote finally reaches the end (Dec 02 2004 14:59 GMT) - Anonymous Patron writes "An AP Report on a group in Creswell, Oregon, and their bid to create a new library that "turned into a real page-turner." This one is full of stupid library puns, but it has a happy ending. Despite the very close and dramatic outcome, the volunteers who worked hard to pass the measure celebrated with "librarian-like restraint" — there was no Champagne. Rather than Champagne they celebrated the cataloguing of 12,500 books into a computer system. OK, so maybe us librarians are a little bit geeky. |

Jamaicans Give Powell Tenure Mixed Reviews (Dec 02 2004 14:59 GMT) - When Colin Powell was appointed America's top diplomat nearly four years ago, islanders rejoiced at the stature achieved by the son of humble Jamaican immigrants, who became the first black secretary of state and the first of Caribbean descent. Now, as the soldier-turned-statesman prepares to leave his post for private life, his tenure is drawing... |

were you wondering what to get me for Christmas? (bayou edition) (Dec 02 2004 14:58 GMT) - the DCCC is taking a bunch of folks down to Louisiana to do GOTV for the two races that are having runoffs on Dec. 4th.Please help out if you can. I would really like to be reading death of mandate stories this time next week.Scare the House Majority, who are not the least bit interested in trying to find equivalent jobs in the private sector in two years (and give Billy "gave away the store to Big Pharma with the Medicaid Bill and then retired for a fat job with Big Pharma before the dust had settled" Tauzin one in the eye - his kid, who has only ever held one job in his life, a lobbying job with an industry dad regulated, is running on a platform of keeping Louisiana's seniority in the House, which he apparently thinks is inheritable, or at least hopes his putative constituents do). |
