OS X and memory (Dec 02 2004 23:32 GMT) - Somewhat disappointing: my iBook still swaps even with 640 Mb of RAM. It's a lot less noticeable, ie, no spinning beach ball of death every so often. I also gave up on FireFox today after one too many times of 100% CPU utilization and no recourse but white:~ paul$ killall firefox-bin We'll see ... |

Rasom Nas Bahato (Dec 02 2004 23:30 GMT) - It's VoIP time. Only 2 days after ordering my new VoIP service, my adapter has arrived and I'm excited to start trying it out. Our usual phone bills have been $55-60, with $20 for the phone and $25 for long distance. Tack on all the re-dick-ulous charges and there you go. So, in my infinite wisdom, I decided to look... |

A loud silence on the Left (Dec 02 2004 23:30 GMT) - Click on these links and tell me if you notice what's missing from the search results: Technorati Daypop Google Yahoo What's missing is any mention of the Groningen Protocol on the major liberal blogs. Why are the self-styled Champions of The Downtrodden™ so silent? Do they really have no opinion about a system of government-sanctioned killing of children under age... |

Mr. Torvalds Goes To Brussels (Dec 02 2004 23:30 GMT) - Last week, a group of Open Source pioneers joined a running battle over the future of software patents in the European Union. Over the next several weeks, Europe may adopt the same legal framework that has allowed a bunch of con artists to wreak havoc on the U.S. software industry. Yet it's also possible Europe will take the first step towards dumping software patents once and for all--and force the United States to decide whether it wants to pay more than lip service to the idea of innovation. |

What does "content" mean to you? (Dec 02 2004 23:29 GMT) - Interesting replies - thanks everyone. The reason I was asking (yes, it wasn't just a mindless question :)) is because I had a little problem recently where I mentioned "content" in a quote - and I was referring to the text, not the design - whereas from the other side it was taken differently. So, your responses have helped me decide how I should clarify the wording. I should use words like "text" and "design features" instead of "content". |

Nowe oblicze Google Groups (Dec 02 2004 23:29 GMT) - Niedługo serwis Google Groups zasadniczo zmieni oblicze. Nie będzie to tylko zmiana wyglądu zewnętrznego, ale gruntowna przebudowa funkcjonalności - testowana od maja nowa wersja już niedługo powinna zastąpić "stare grupy". |
