Plug-and-Play Linux Office System (Dec 02 2004 23:51 GMT) - Newsforge has an article by roblimo. One of the points is about thin clients: We were aware of Oracle's and Sun's attempts to sell thin-client networks, and in our opinion they went about it wrong. (Dec 02 2004 23:51 GMT) - You may recall stories I've posted about the miracle properties of "designer" orange juice being used to lower one's cholesterol or as a source of vitamin D.Researchers with the Texas Agriculture Experiment Station have found orange juice contains natural citrus compounds called limonoids that target and stop neuroblastoma cancer cells. In fact, one researcher called citrus fruit "a vast reservoir of anti-carcinogens. |

Thomson Releases MP3 Surround (Dec 02 2004 23:51 GMT) - Anonymous Howard writes "Thomson has released MP3 Surround, a new MP3 codec. They claim that MP3 Surround supports high-quality multi-channel sound at bit rates comparable to those currently used to encode stereo MP3 material, resulting in files half the size of common compressed surround formats while maintaining backwards compatibility. Wasn't MP3 Pro supposed to be a great new MP3 codec, but never took off? I wonder if this is going to go the same route. Does anyone have a technical view of MP3 Surround? |
