Shocker: 72 Hour Degrees Online Are A Scam (Dec 06 2004 23:35 GMT) - Would you believe that a website online claiming to be a university that gives diplomas in 72 hours without any qualifications other than a check that doesn't bounce is actually a scam? Yeah, it must seem totally shocking, but only now, after plenty of examples of people buying degrees from such diploma mills is anyone cracking down. Pennsylvania has sued two men for running such a "university", though they seem to be going after them with anti-spam laws, rather than fraud laws, which is a bit disappointing. |

Joining the Architecture of Participation Party (Dec 06 2004 23:34 GMT) - With the news that Google has locked down googlereviews.com, incorporated reviews (of sorts) into Froogle, re-launched Google Groups in a bid to get competitive with Yahoo, started to update Blogger, has released desktop search (with its obvious developer platform implications), and is quickly scaling Local with mobile and the like, it's a pretty obvious conclusion to draw: Google is joining the architecture of participation party in a big way. Like eBay and Amazon, Google will gain huge traction when it allows its own users to create value on its platform. Not totally unrelated side note: |
