Shit happens (Dec 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - So I turned 35 a few hours ago, although if I respect timezone differences, I should be still young for 8 more hours or so. I don't know what it is, but I just don't feel 35. Some people who know me will heartily claim that I act like a 12 year old most of the time. Me, I'd like to think I love to cherish the child inside. With age comes dementia. |

The Ann Arbor and other points curser gives up! (Dec 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - Bob writes "Fredric Maxwell who makes a point of cursing out librarians, 'Because they get paid to take it' has dropped his federal case against the Ann Arbor Public Library. This "gentleman" has evidently moved on. Unfortunately, I'm sure other librarians will be meeting this paragon of free speech." |

Tech Cheating Turns Professors Into Detectives (Dec 08 2004 22:59 GMT) - stevenj writes "Del Dingus is a CalPoly professor, but he also spends a fair amount of time trying to find out which of his students are cheating. Dingus, an earth and soil sciences professor, has caught students during a quiz using cell phones to receive text messages of answers from other students. One student turned in a paper he simply photocopied from a classmate's, Dingus said, but most who plagiarize are savvier. If you follow articles about student plagiarism, here's one worth reading.
