We Don't Agree, But...
|
Bottom-Up (Dec 09 2004 20:44 GMT) - I just read the American Prospect magazine, where article after article analyzes what the Democrats did wrong in the presidential campaign, and insists that we must follow the techniques the Republicans used so effectively. Everywhere I go I hear the same thing. It's upsetting. Regardless of all this analysis, I believe the Republicans won by means of a propaganda barrage of lies, distortions, smears and bigotry, mounted by Big Business and Big Media, who used the religious right as pawns. Democrats should NOT follow this top-down outrageous approach. |

Bush is For/Against Intelligence Czar (Dec 09 2004 20:44 GMT) - The big news today is that the House has passed a compromise intelligence-overhaul bill and the Senate is expected to do the same soon. President Bush comes out as gaining a victory because he managed to persuade the House Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Duncan Hunter, to relent with his objections. At least this is the Republican story. The real story is that Bush managed to water-down the responsibilities of the intelligence czar so that the czar could not impose his will on the Pentagon. This is exactly what he wanted in the first place, but Bush preferred a devious rather than an honest approach to obtaining it... |

I need to find a celebrity! (Dec 09 2004 20:44 GMT) - I was just watching 'Celebrity Snappers' on Living TV. They've got a competition on where if you send in a phtograph you've taken of a celeb you can with prizes, one of which is a day with a professional photographer on a shoot. I'd so love to do that!Unfortunately I don't have any photos I've taken of a celeb, Birmingham isn't exactly teeming with them. You don't exactly bump into Julia Roberts in the Starbucks next to the council house. |

Specifix says fragmentation is not a bad thing (Dec 09 2004 20:43 GMT) - Specifix says fragmentation is not a bad thing "The nature of open source is that everyone who runs an application has access to the underlying code. Because they can modify the code, many do. The result can be, and often is, a fragmentation of development efforts. This is generally a difficult thing to manage and maintain, but there are tools offered that can help. |

It seems to work quite well, both on Web-based mail like Gmail and on POP3 accounts. It also supports IMAP for connecting to Exchange and other servers, but we didn't test that feature. |

Daniel Lapin and Protocols (Dec 09 2004 20:42 GMT) - The other day, I ran a search on Amazon's A9 search engine for "Protocols Jewish," a search which had led someone to this site. Amidst all the links to anti-Semitic websites running the forgery as if it were truth, was a listing of books from Amazon. In contrast to the web site, the books were primarily scholarly debunkings of the Protocols. All except for one: Thou Shall Prosper: |
