Article: Clarity vs. Simplicity (Dec 12 2004 23:59 GMT) - Quote: "They'll just "see how it goes." " I think no matter how much testing you do, at some point you do have to release it (be it software, a website, branding campaign, etc) and 'see how it goes'. But I agree you need a deployment plan and part of that plan is a back-up. Agree, depending on the specific application one of these examples might work better than others. |

On the one hand this could mean the indroduction of an administrator with an engineering background (O'Keefe is an MPA), on the other hand can we really expect NASA to effect serious changes and find a focused direction with leadership changes every 4 years?" An anonymous reader adds a link to this Florida Today article (also carried by Space.com) which says that "the retired director of the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency tops a list of five men that President Bush is considering to take over the space agency."... |

Classroom libraries motivate students in FL (Dec 12 2004 23:59 GMT) - An Anonymous Patron sends "this story from the Sun-Sentinel about how locating small collections in classrooms can help motivate students. An educational tool used in schools around the country, classroom libraries are collections of books housed in individual classrooms. Feeling festive (Dec 12 2004 23:58 GMT) - Claire and I were quite disappointed last night, because we put up the Christmas tree in the living room bay window and then realised we only had a single string of twenty white fairy lights. The tree is only five feet tall, but twenty wouldn't be enough and we wanted to stick with white lights this year, as we're aiming for a more traditional theme. So we headed out early this afternoon, picked up a few Christmas presents for the hamsters, and spent a fair bit of time at Dunelm Mill. Claire bought a pot holder, oven mitts and a peg bag for her granny, and we also got a wine-coloured tablecloth for our makeshift dining table, two new matching ... |

Google Suggest Needs Work... (Dec 12 2004 23:56 GMT) - A new tool from Google came out in the last week or so, and it has been making the rounds in the blogosphere. I haven't posted about the new Google Suggest, mainly because I think it's a rather dumb idea. Basically it is a search box with something similar to Microsoft's IntelliSense - you start typing letters and it suggests words and phrases you might be beginning to type. Mainly I think it's a dumb idea because it does what a directory does, but in a much less intuitive way. If I want to browse web pages, I'll use a directory thank you. |
