Legal Affairs Magazine Offhandedly Insults Practicing Lawyers (Dec 15 2004 22:59 GMT) - I thought that Evan Schaeffer would have picked up on this story by now. Legal Affairs, apparently an important magazine covering legal issues, is conducting a poll to name the Top 20 Legal Thinkers in America. The list of candidates includes Academics, Judges and Writer/Commentators. Uh, what about practicing lawyers? I guess my lawyer friends and I don't count as "thinkers" in the rarefied air found in the halls of Legal Affairs. |

Family trees bloom in light of BBC show (Dec 15 2004 22:59 GMT) - Anonymous Patron writes "BBC NEWS reports on a BBC TV show which tracks celebrities uncovering their family history, and which finishes tonight, is being credited with sparking a surge of interest in genealogy. Until a few years ago, specialist genealogy agencies were charging hefty fees to do the legwork and sift among dusty piles of documents at record offices. But now thanks to the internet's rich resources, which has made old paper records readily accessible to everybody, tracing one's family history is no longer restricted to the wealthy few." |

The ACLU tries but fails to change Ohio outcome (Dec 15 2004 22:57 GMT) - Now I am sorry I gave my idiot of the week award out a day early. All of a sudden punch card voting should be illegal! The ACLU in its infinite stupidity argued that punch cards deny people the right to vote. Just think, for the last 50 years we never really voted and all and those Democratic candidates elected with punch cards WON ELECTIONS THROUGH FRAUD! THEY STOLE THOUSANDS OF ELECTIONS! |
