4400 Square Miles of EVDO (Dec 18 2004 23:30 GMT) - Verizon Wireless says they've blanketed Los Angeles and environs: Its BroadbandAccess service, its name for the package of 1xEv-DO they've rolled out (or just plain EVDO if you want to be simpler about it) fills Los Angeles County, parts of Riverside County and San Bernadino County, and most of San Diego and Orange County. Overall, about 4400 square miles of coverage across populated SoCal. |

Dealing with udev (Dec 18 2004 23:30 GMT) - The latest version of GNOME, 2.8, contains a new tool, gnome-volume-manager for automatically dealing with removal media devices. This relies on hal, the Hardware Abstraction Layer. In order for this to work well the user space /dev/ management tool udev is required. This works by mounting a tmpfs filesystem over /dev/ and creating device nodes as devices are detected and configured. |

Feng Xian, a woman in her early 20s, was considered the most beautiful “Renzao Meinu,” or “Artificial Beauty,” among 19 finalists aged 17 to 62 vying for the honour in Beijing. “I want to feel the operation myself so that I will have confidence when I become a plastic surgeon,” Feng said. |
