What to use for a merchant account? (Dec 20 2004 17:58 GMT) - I can't really make recomendations about Yahoo's merchant program. I do tend to suggest that clients avoid them, but that's based upon my experience with their domain registration service and not anything else. If you've never registered a domain via Yahoo or even if you have but are unaware of the situation, it's basically that Yahoo puts themselves in there as one of the contacts and thus, you need to obtain written permission from Yahoo in order to move that domain to a new registrar in the future. Obtaining this permission usually takes a few dozen e-mails and several weeks (or even months) to get a response - and your first several responses are usually that you're talking to the wrong person - even though it's the address listed on YOUR domain as the contact address... Very frustrating. |

Mac suggestion for future Radio releases (Dec 20 2004 17:56 GMT) - Radio folks, For the next version I'd like to see the "www" folder within radio moved to the user folder rather than stored under the radio application within the "applications" folder. The reasons for this are: - multiple users within a single machine would be able to use Radio for their own blogs, since all their user-specific data would be within their own user folder - access to user-specific files could be restricted only to the user who has ownership of their www folder. This is extremely important if there are multiple users of a machine. - many people simply back up their user folders rather than the entire Mac as a way of savings space and time since applications can always be re-installed from backup disks. |
