Samsung i730 to have WiFi (Dec 23 2004 19:21 GMT) - The Samsung i730 will ship with WiFi according to new documents posted by the FCC. This means the device will include Bluetooth, WiFi and EV-DO. Other features of the Samsung i730 include: Megapixel camera Sliding QWERTY keyboard 65K color TFT 64MB memory A ship date was not announced, but expect the i730 in “early 2005”. |

Liberia [editorial]: Take The Gauntlet, NTGL (Dec 23 2004 19:21 GMT) - THE UN SECURITY Council, Tuesday this week, renewed the sanctions it imposed on diamond, timbers, travel, and arms. The Council based its action on the Panel of Experts' August to November assessment mission to Liberia which concluded that the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL) had not met the conditions for lifting the sanctions. |

Early presents (Dec 23 2004 19:20 GMT) - Caved under pressure and got myself some Christmas presents :) (I know, Apple is supposed to introduce a new iPod pretty soon, but I figured that since this thing already does nearly all I want it to do, I can just get it...) Now I'm listening to music on express train, at the beginning of my 14-hour trip to Pello, way north of the Arctic Circle. It's odd realize that it's faster to get to Japan or SFO than to Outi's parents... If we ever get kids, we can't rely on gran to do babysitting ; |

Yet Again Trying to Ban Catcher in the Rye (Dec 23 2004 19:19 GMT) - Stolen from MoFi Andrea Minnon of Lebanon said she had never heard of "The Catcher in the Rye" before she learned that it was on her 14-year-old son Spencer's freshman reading list. After researching the book online with her husband, she concluded that it espouses immoral ideas that are inappropriate for freshman-age students. Now she wants it removed from the freshman curriculum. |
