Fat, stupid, liar... now whinging bitch too (Dec 23 2004 20:59 GMT) - This Mickey Moore doesn't have much going for him at all... except the extreme wealth he's managed to plunder from gullible tree huggers. He can dish it out but he sure as shit can't take it. The good news is... |

How would you invest £100k (Dec 23 2004 20:59 GMT) - Quote: "To be honest I would probably invest in other things before going near the web, maybe I’m in the wrong industry." The web's a wonderful place to make money as long as you remember the basics of business. Its actually best it seems for repeat business such as creating sites which generate serious money from Adsense and/or getting annual/monthly renewal payments. As for what I'd do with £100K - I'd invest it in a mass of projects we've got planned which don't require vast investments but could do with being able to pay for some temporary help to fill them out and the servers to run them on. |

To the dogs (Dec 23 2004 20:59 GMT) - "Imagine a great metropolis covering hundreds of square miles. Once a vital component in a national economy, this sprawling urban environment is now a vast collection of blighted buildings, an immense petri dish of both ancient and new diseases, a territory where the rule of law has long been replaced by near anarchy in which the only security available is that which is attained through brute power. Such cities have been routinely imagined in apocalyptic movies and in certain science-fiction genres, where they are often portrayed as gigantic versions of T. S. Eliot’ |

Is This Some Kind of a Joke? (Dec 23 2004 20:57 GMT) - Henry over at Crooked Timber finds John DiIulio attacking liberals for their political cowardice. On this, at least, I am the anti-Voltaire: I may agree with what he says, but I will fight to the death against his right to say it: Crooked Timber: Sinful Inequalities : |

ADO.NET Tip (Dec 23 2004 20:57 GMT) - So I was recently faced with this question -- I have a DataView and I'm changing the RowFilter several thousand times during some processing. Is there a way to speed that up, something like a client-side index I can use?Currently the process takes several hours to run, most of that time being spent changing the RowFilter on the DataView. To which my answer was - A better way to do this would be use relations and instead of recreating thedataview everytime (which essentially changing the rowfilter means it doesall that internally) .. |

Article: Men outspend women on the web--by 15%, survey says (Dec 23 2004 20:56 GMT) - I'm hoping not. I've never seen that men or women are one way or another, except by culture and upbringing, and perhaps inclination. Where women are taught not to do "men's work" and vice-versa, you'll see ample "proof" of the "men and women are different" theories -- with the underlying causes conveniently unexplored. |
