ADC publishes 'Developing 64-Bit Applications' (Dec 23 2004 20:30 GMT) - Apple Developer Connection (ADC) has published an article titled "Developing 64-Bit Applications" on its Web site. The piece explains the switch from 32- to 64-bit computing that will come with the release of Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" next year, enabling developers to go beyond the 4GB limitation on RAM currently imposed by Mac OS X on each application. Tiger ups the ante to 16 exabytes, or 16 billion bytes -- enough to hold 16,000 copies of the Internet Archive, which is dedicated to maintaining an archive of the Internet. While no computer can hold that much memory, Apple notes: |

MAFRA kafrá (Dec 23 2004 20:30 GMT) - [conBLOG] - Dnes je zvláštní den. Všichni posílají upomínky jak zjednaní. Jedna taková mi přišla z MAFRA. Níže podepsaný ředitel magistr Tocháček mě upomíná o peníze za předplatné. No podepsaný. |

Baby milk ... and now washing powder? (Dec 23 2004 20:29 GMT) - I just saw an ad on ITV for Ariel non-bio washing powder. The advert featured an African woman, traditionally dressed and with her scarf tied around her hair, kissing a little boy goodbye and saying goodbye, all in a foreign language. (I don't know enough of any African language to know what language.) |

Helpline Comment (29476) (Dec 23 2004 20:28 GMT) - Wow, I almost forgot about KJ! I traded some stuff with him a while back, a thinkpad 760XL for a brand new PIII 600 desktop (it was new at the time). Would recommend to anyone, good guy. By the way, KJ, is that old thinkpad still alive, runing your engraving machine? the PIII died in a horrible accident, I installed a (unknown to me) faulty NIC, which somehow managed to blow an IC on the motherboard. |

Quick Market Survey: Apartment Rental Sites (Dec 23 2004 20:28 GMT) - If you live in a major Canadian city and want to rent an apartment, what's the first site you go to? Is there a #1 (and #2 and #3) URL that you'd start with? If not, what would you type into Google (or Yahoo or another search engine of your choice)? I'm strictly interested in your online behaviour. Mind you, if you wouldn't bother searching online at all, I want to hear that too. |

stretching a box to the height of an internal box (Dec 23 2004 20:26 GMT) - Hi all, still a css novice here so can use some help I'm working on a site that uses css boxes to encase the data. One main box is called "case". this encloses the left nav and the right content, both boxes themselves. the problem is that when the rightcontent box is too tall, it displays on top of the case. After the case is the bottom nav, so you have the rightcontent overwriting the bottom nav. |
