*Why guys are so darn thick-skinned* (Dec 24 2004 01:50 GMT) - It's not our fault you know, it's biological! Well that's what most guys would like to think when the women in their lives shout "uuuggghhh....you've got such thick-skin!". However can it be explained if this is really something that is more biological rather than attitude. |

Happy Birthday, Jesus!, by Isaiah Z. Sterrett (Dec 24 2004 01:49 GMT) - In this maelstrom of crass commercialization and acrimony surrounding the day on which we celebrate your nativity, Jesus, I want to wish you a Happy Birthday. How remiss we are. The family of man is a distracted and rancorous lot, and as we scurry to and fro scratching items off our Christmas lists while others try to scratch your Holy Day off calendars, we forget what's truly important. |

How would you invest 100k (Dec 24 2004 01:49 GMT) - Sounds great rcjordan, I wish you great luck in whatever you decide to do. I'm having a board of Director's meeting on January 1st, where I'm going to discuss amongst myself (Yes, I am the board of directors) what I need for a new start-up. I've done about eight or nine months of research and planning, and now I'm about ready to open a business bank account, register a domain name, pay for hosting, get a business license, and install some software. It's actually pretty exciting. Total costs on start will be about $500. |

We Love New York: Hotels on sale from $79 (Dec 24 2004 01:48 GMT) - Expedia has some pretty exceptional NYC hotel rates (from $79!) good now through January 31, 2005. A word of warning, though: We don't recommend their New York Harbor Cruise add-on this time of year, unless you're into that whole icicles-on-your-nose thing.... |

How I made my first podcast with Radio (Dec 24 2004 01:48 GMT) - I've received a few inquiries about how I set up my podcast with radio, so I thought I would post what I did here. I hope this speeds up the learning curve for other wannabe podcasters. First, thanks to others on this board who helped me along. I'm not a techie sort of person, so if I misuse terms or make errors, please feel free to follow up on this posting with corrections. Also, if my explanations seem painfully obvious and redundant, remember that I'm not writing this with you in mind. |

Sfweekly.com profiles three unnamed exgay ministries (Dec 24 2004 01:48 GMT) - Sfweekly.com lampoons a trio of Northern California ex-gay ministries. One group helps parents reinforce their own stereotypes about “the gay lifestyle” that they imagine their adult children to be living. Group leader Carol has no qualifications in counseling or medicine, so it’s no surprise when the parental support talk runs amok. The parents condemn their children to hell, outright. |

Defending Rummy, by Isaiah Z. Sterrett (Dec 24 2004 01:47 GMT) - SOME SELF-AGGRANDIZING schmuck masquerading as a journalist found an unassuming soldier in the desert and proceeded to demand that the fatigued GI harangue Don Rumsfeld into quick thinking on an ever-changing issue. Then the reporter bragged, the press smirked, and Rumsfeld, an heroic leader, was suddenly transmogrified into the villain |

Some more discussion on the ... (Dec 24 2004 01:46 GMT) - Some more discussion on the merits of Linux-running. (And since I'm good at subtitling things, let's just call this "more information than you wanted to know") Will Baude wants to know if I would ever ask a man out simply because he ran Linux. Linux-running is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for romantic relationships. There are plenty of people who run Linux who I wouldn't date. And sadly, oh so sadly, my boyfriend does not run Linux. |
