No Chatter: Good or Bad? (Dec 24 2004 02:21 GMT) - Hard to tell if this is good or bad: Little 'Chatter' About Any New Terror Plot. (Hat tip: zulubaby.) I recall a distinct lack of warning signs on September 10, 2001. |

Mysterious falling off of the google map, of sharkeater (Dec 24 2004 02:20 GMT) -
It has been an odd update. There are many opinions out there, and few provable conclusions. For my money, look to your outbound links, to the third generation. So not only who you link to, but who they in turn link to, and who they link to.
P. |

What do you see in your crystal ball for 2005? (Dec 24 2004 02:20 GMT) - Quote: "A lot more paid, a lot less free" I don't know. This article from the WSJ looks at the resurgence of free stuff on the web: Despite Earlier Predictions, 'Free' Web Is Going Strong (via rcjordan's post at threadwatch) I also suspect that Paul's "offline communities" are going to merge more with online communities - at least they will in mine if I have my way. Physical Access Control. In Los ... (Dec 24 2004 02:20 GMT) - Physical Access Control. In Los Angeles, the "HOLLYWOOD" sign is protected by a fence and a locked gate. Because several different agencies need access to the sign for various purposes, the chain locking the gate is formed by several locks linked together. Each of the agencies has the key to its own lock, and not the key to any of the others. Of course, anyone who can open one of the locks can open the gate. |

F for effort (Dec 24 2004 02:19 GMT) - There's a montage in Blade: Trinity during which Jessica Biel and Wesley Snipes go out hunting for information. It's really skillfully handled, with nimble wipes and split-screens and it conveys a lot of action in a very short amount of time. Truly, it's one of the better montages I've seen in a while. It is not the coolest thing Jessica Biel does in the movie. |
