If All Else Fails? (Dec 24 2004 12:33 GMT) - Yup - I agree with Adrian. I did a similar rescue mission on a friinds PC recently, (Win XP), and after re-formatting and re-installing Windows, there were still a lot of things which didn't work - even though all the viruses etc had been removed. The main thing was that it wouldn't connect to the internet. I did a quick search on my own PC and found the solution - reformatting, or reinstalling Win XP takes the PC back to a point before the SP1 & SP2 security packs were installed. I found a place, (on the net), where I could download the whole SP2 pack - burnt it onto a disc - and ran it from the disc into the PC. |
