Question of the day (Dec 24 2004 18:39 GMT) - Sorry I haven't been blogging -- it's been a little hectic getting ready for Christmas. But while I'm buried in the Great White North, here's a little debate question that came up during the drive to my Grandmother's: It's widely argued that the beginning of the nanny state was the granting of voting rights to women. Assuming that this is, in fact true, here's a conundrum for conservative/libertarian women: would you give up the right to vote in order to secure a more conservative political environment? |

Merry Freakin' Xmas Random Stimuli (Dec 24 2004 18:38 GMT) - For those of you readers not into Xmas--here are the "Xmas-Free" links of the day that I have swiped in a non-Xmas spirit from other bloggers and websites that are far better than mine (complete list here of bloggers/websites that I would nominate for awards in a heartbeat). From all of us ... (Dec 24 2004 18:37 GMT) - Yes, there's a bit of snow out there, no problem with a White Christmas this year -- the weather-office tells us it's been continuous now for just over 26 hours and we've piled up at least 25cm since last night, most everything is closed, cancelled or closing down so there's not much else to do but warm up some cocoa, bake some cookies (while we still have electricity), listen to the sound of the mercury dropping (overnight low -23C!) and wait on the Jolly Old Elf to guide us through this Holy Night.So, from all of us to all of us and all of you ... |
