Watercolor Landscapes (Dec 27 2004 01:54 GMT) - The closest nature in Cook County IL,suburban Chicago is usually one’s backyard. The closest place nearby is your local Forest Preserve used by joggers, bicyclists, dog walkers, and local Businessmen-who back in their cars a signal they are looking for other men,and bums or drug addicts sometimes manipulated by these men. This particular Forest Preserve is located across the street where I attended High School and is called Dam # 4,because it is where the Des Plaines river takes a sharp bend.As a student at the Art Institute of Chicago interested in Landscape Painting, returning home some weekends I would trech the muddy trails by the river to do some sketches with a small backpack and portable easel. |

Podcast-talk, theme songs, and microcontent (Dec 27 2004 01:54 GMT) - On my Wrong Notes music blog, I just posted some suggestions for podcast talk shows from my point of view as a musician. But, I have a few more techie comments on podcasts that I wanted to post here as well. Listening to a bunch of podcasts with folks basically doing audio blog posts, I'm getting the feeling that the microcontent advantage of textual blog posts is getting lost in the translation to audio.
