Double Plus Bang (Dec 31 2004 00:43 GMT) - I once read that everyone has a quota of ten exclamation points to use throughout their life. Maybe that's a bit extreme, but I do agree that many people use way too many exclamation points. The worst is when people use exclamation points on every sentence. While thinking a bit about this I came across Elmore's Rules of Writing. I agree with just about every point he makes. |

Exeem "Successor" to Suprnova Announced (Dec 31 2004 00:40 GMT) - After the demise of Suprnova, hype has risen over Exeem, the supposed heir apparent to the popular BitTorrent index. Today on Novastream, Sloncek announced it officially, but to me his announcement raised more questions than it did answers. Since the official exeem.com website still isn't up, I've got a few notes below. Thanks to several users on irc. |

Desmond Tutu on America (Dec 31 2004 00:39 GMT) - Just look at the facts on the table: He’d gone into a war having misled people—whether deliberately or not—about why he went to war. You would think that would have knocked him out [of the race.] It didn’t. Look at the number of American soldiers who have died since he claimed that the war had ended. |

ecommerce site abandonment (Dec 31 2004 00:38 GMT) - Exactly, and that was my point, Kim. The stats with regard to ecom sites, and particularly shopping carts, don't take into account how people really shop; instead, they assume problems that may or may not exist and use scare tactics to imply that site owners don't know what's happening and are losing out (but of course, the article writers know, and should be hired). I'm not suggesting that there is nothing wrong with any ecom site or shopping cart. I am suggesting that more has to be known about any set of stats, and the real usage occurring at any site and reasons behind that usage, before anything is assumed. |
