Disaster reminds us to be prepared (Dec 31 2004 10:16 GMT) - Pueo, our young friend from Hawaii who attends The Art Institute of Seattle, joined us for dinner on Christmas Day. He gave us a sketched Christmas card that showed a big wave with the Hawaiian greeting, ``Mele Kalikimaka to the Luzzis.'' I put the original artwork on the fridge. People feel compelled to ``do something,'' often offering blankets, shoes and clothing. That type of help continues to be one of the misconceptions of disaster relief. It's better to send cash. |
