Rebuilding after the Tsunami (Dec 31 2004 17:57 GMT) - I do volunteer work for an organization that has a successful approach to the problem of rural educations consisting of: Partnering with communities to build schools through our challenge grant program Establishing bi-lingual libraries Publishing local language children's books Establishing computer and language labs Providing long-term scholarships to girls After the immediate disaster relief efforts in the Tsunami hit regions there will be a need in the medium term to rebuild what has been destroyed in so many countries.... not just homes but schools and libraries as well. I expect that we'll be there to help .... |
